Wavering Place Emotional Surprise Proposal Ryan & Katie

We recently visited a new (to us) venue near Columbia, South Carolina called Wavering Place. We had connected with one of the venue owners, Shana, through good old Instagram and set up a venue tour with her. Guys, Shana, is the nicest person we’ve ever met! She was so excited to see us and show us the venue like it was the first time she had ever had the pleasure of showing it off! Shortly before that venue tour, we had photographed Parker & Madeline’s surprise proposal. And Shana, having seen that, had sent one of the grooms who had recently booked Wavering Place to us, recommending that he reach out to us about his upcoming proposal.

Well, reach out to us he did. His name is Ryan and come to find out he’s an awesome guy! So between Ryan, Shana and us, we all knew exactly how this thing was going down. Ryan and his soon-to-be-fiance Katie were going to show up at Wavering Place to meet with Shana about some odds and ends about their wedding next April. Then Shana would leave the two of them alone in the garden. Ryan would know what to do next!

So this past Sunday, we showed up ready to hide amongst the bushes! And guys, this proposal couldn’t have gone better!!! Ryan pulled off the surprise incredibly well and Katie’s reaction was one for the ages! See for yourself!

As if that wasn’t enough, Katie’s sister and best friend had flown in to surprise her as well! The celebration was on!

And just to cap it all off, we (of course!) had to get Ryan & Katie in front of the camera for a few quick portraits just minutes after they got engaged!!!

And as one last little surprise that RYAN didn’t even know about, we were able to get a little cell phone video of their special moment. We won’t show the entire thing to protect the joy and privacy of their moment, but here’s the best part!!! You can tell in 30 seconds that they have a love that is FOR REAL!
