How often do we find ourselves on a given Friday night wanting to take a hard-earned date night but without the energy to come up with an awesome date night idea? All. The. Time! Are we alone?! Surely not! So we had an idea:
“Let’s ask our amazing community of brides to give us their favorite date night ideas!”
We did just that! And the results were incredible! We got tons of ideas. Some were romantic, some were date nights on a budget and some were just plain fun ideas! And then we thought, what better way to honor these great ideas than to to share them with you! So that’s what we are going to do now and we didn’t even have room for all of them!
Here’s the plan: We are going to share the ideas in 3 different categories including Romantic, Budget and Unique date ideas. And first, we are going to share our favorite from each category! Let’s go!
Our Favorite: (From our bride Patricia!) Drive the beautiful Blue Ridge Parkway from Brevard to Asheville! Grab a drink and eat on the terrace at The Grove Park Inn while watching the sunset, then, end the day by heading to French Broad Chocolate Lounge for dessert. (Substitute a gorgeous scenic highway near you, a perfect restaurant to eat and watch the sunset and a dessert joint in your area if you’re not near Greenville!)
Other Contenders:
From Maggie – Get super fancy (and yes, that means my one Kate Spade dress), make a reservation at Nantucket’s for dinner, and stroll around downtown in a carriage. Then end the night with our favorite snack – Sonic slushies and cheese sticks!
From Danielle – We’re not the grand gesture, expensive dinner kind of couple. The most romantic date for me was more simple. Chris planned a whole weekend “crawl” where we only ate tacos (breakfast/brunch included). We visited every taco place he could find, from little holes-in-the-wall to larger “fusion” options. If tacos aren’t the truest form of love, then I don’t know what is!
From Patricia – Walk around downtown Greer ending at The Strip 104 and have dinner outside under the lights. End the night with our favorite desert there, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores!
From Monica – A surprise candlelit dinner at home!
From Ali – A 5-course tasting dinner at The Anchorage.
From Monica – Dinner and drinks at Up on the Roof and a show at the Peace Center.
Our Favorite: (From our bride Stephanie!) Set a budget for each of you, go on Groupon or Living Social and pick something to do as a surprise for the other person. Then set a time to go use those on two separate date nights! Think outside the box and try something new!
Other Contenders:
From Abbie – We go on breakfast dates! Our most frequented spot is, of course, Chick-fil-A, but we also love to go to Mr. Waffle in Gaffney, Bikas in Taylors, and Bojangles! I think the most we spend is $12 total. We go on Saturday mornings, and we don’t get dressed up, we put our phones down, and just talk and enjoy our breakfast and each other’s company.
From Patricia – Bike the Swamp Rabbit Trail starting at Furman. Ride bikes to Farmhouse Tacos for dinner, grab a taco and then a milkshake at Pink Mamas. Then ride back to Furman to watch the sunset.
From Kellie – Ride the Spartanburg Rail Trail & stop to get a local brew or cocktail along the way.
From Ali – Bring a picnic to hear music at Furman on the Lake concert series!
From Maggie – Find a new recipe and try it out while picking out a movie to watch! It’s so much fun and relaxing because you can stay in your pjs!
From Danielle – Our favorite is the “Goodwill Challenge,” which involves going to Goodwill with $5 each, and picking an outfit for the other person. Make silly personas to go along with these outfits, and act like those characters as you go out for dessert! So many laughs!
From Abbie – We like to go play putt-putt. A few weeks ago, we played on a team against my parents and it was a blast!
From Ali – Dinner and bowling at Stone Pin.
Our Favorite: (From our bride Kellie!) What is it that your love enjoyed most as a child? Was it skating? Go carts? Putt putt? What was their favorite food? What are all the things that will bring back nostalgic memories? Combine those things and go back in time for the night! You could even create a playlist of throwbacks to really top it off!
Other Contenders:
From Maggie – Harrison took me to a drive-in movie theatre with a picnic packed and everything. It had a rose, candles and we had a candlelight dinner and watched Beauty and the Beast. It’s honestly my favorite date we’ve ever been on!
From Danielle – Start with a reasonable dinner out, and then do something around town: strolling through Falls Park, bowling, playing board games, etc. Of course, the night just has to end with dessert. For us, that means ice cream! Our personal favorite is rolled ice cream at Creme Shack (Greenville) or Yum Creamery (Spartanburg)!
From Monica – Do an Escape Room together or pick out books for each other in the book store.
From Ali – Take a cooking class together at The Cook’s Station!
So now the ball is in your court. Whether you are dating, engaged or married, it’s time to take a break from life, put down the phones and go out on a date night! So pick your favorite from these many, many choices (or anything else you can think of like a Greenville Drive game!) and get out there for some quality time with your love!
