Brooks & Cate Fall Downtown Charleston Engagement Charleston, SC

Two facts everyone should know right off the bat. Charleston has our hearts. We’d never want to actually live there, and prefer to visit between the cooler months of October and April (ha!), but we love the Lowcountry and any opportunity to get down there. Add a Charleston engagement session in the heart of downtown and you’re speaking our language. Speaking of hearts… We love all of our couples; that’s not a secret! Each one holds a special place in our hearts. And Brooks and Cate are no exception! Huge surprise we found out after they booked us – Brooks’ parents live in our neighborhood! What a small world! And we’ve loved getting to know both sets of families throughout this process so far. Brooks & Cate come from the best families; after all, it was family that first brought them together. Here’s their story, in their own words!

“Our story begins long before we started dating in 2015. Caroline and Delaney, our older sisters, became best friends shortly after Brooks’ family moved to South Carolina in 2008. They quickly became inseparable, thus sparking the beginning of our family’s friendship as well. Years of hiking adventures, college football watch parties, and eventual family vacations meant we had no choice but to become best friends. Fast forward to high school, we had several classes together and the idea of remaining best friends still lingered. Despite Brooks’ nagging efforts, Cate refused to let it turn into anything more because she did not want to ruin our friendship. After months of mixed feelings, Cate finally decided to give it a shot. After one Chic-fil-A breakfast date just a few weeks into sophomore year, our relationship took off and the rest is history.”

They stuck by each other throughout their college years in Charleston, and finally, after all of those years together, Brooks popped the question. Cate said yes (no surprise there!), and they knew they wanted their engagement session in the city that formed much of their relationship. We loved exploring the streets of Charleston with these two, and visiting one of their favorite parks to capture these moments for them. Cate & Brooks, we love you two and are so excited for your wedding next summer with Katie Williams Events!
