Downtown Greenville Rooftop Surprise Proposal Hudson & Sara

Whenever we’re let in on the secret that a proposal is right around the corner, we immediately get excited. We’re imagining the effort, the planning, the secrecy that’s been happening behind the scenes. We picture the meetings with the jeweler, ensuring every detail is just right. And we know the nerves, the little I-hope-she-won’t-see-through-this white lies that are crafted to ensure she doesn’t find out before he’s ready. The readiness, the anticipation, the excitement when he realizes that she’s the one he’s been searching for this entire time, the one he can entrust his heart to, the one he wants to grow old with, the one who’s captured his love long before she even realized it. That this is it.

We love proposals. Whether they’re elaborately planned or intimately arranged, each proposal is special, unique, and tells so much about the couple, both their relationship and values. And when we get to be a part of these incredible moments?! We’re honored. And maybe a little nervous too 🙂

Let us tell you about THIS proposal. Meet Hudson & Sara. We’ve actually met them before, at our dear couple Harrison & Maggie’s wedding. Hudson & Harrison are brothers, and come from the sweetest family. Sara was one of Maggie’s bridesmaids, and she’s one of the most joyful people you’ll ever meet. They made an impression on us, even then, and when Hudson reached out about his plans for proposing to Sara, we may or may not have wanted to shout it from the rooftops!

Hudson planned an elaborate evening for him and Sara to enjoy; dinner at Jianna’s, a carriage ride in downtown Greenville, and a date to watch the sun set over our little skyline from the rooftop of Up On The Roof. He even picked out a dress for Sara to wear for the evening that complimented his blue suit. He planned to ask Sara at sunset, and drew in the staff at Up On the Roof, the two of us, as well as his sisters to help him pull off his plan. His sisters arrived early to set up the area with notes they had written each other throughout their relationship, pictures of the two of them together, and of course, the ring, These girls took care of everything, down to a touch up kit for Sara to use! A shout out to the best sisters ever!

We got word that Hudson & Sara were on their way up the elevator, and if we’re honest, some nervous excitement set in. Hudson walked through the doors out onto the roof, holding Sara by the hand, who followed behind him with her eyes closed. Eyes closed! He told her to keep her eyes closed until he said her name, and not once did she open her eyes. Such a testament to their relationship!

Hudson led Sara into place, and dropped down on one knee. It was as if the entire restaurant held its breath as we waited for Hudson to call her name. When he did, Sara opened her eyes, locked eyes with Hudson down on one knee, and the tears started. He asked, and she said yes! And a cheer rose up all around them as he wrapped her up and slipped that ring on her finger. It was like no one else was there, though probably a hundred of us were celebrating right along with him!

Hudson & Sara, we cannot tell you how excited we are for you two to begin this journey into marriage! Thank you for allowing us to be a part of your story – it’s an absolute honor and a complete joy! We hope you look back at these images and remember the memories, the emotions of this night. We love you both! Congratulations!
