Favorite Engagement Images of 2014

If we had to tell you a time that we feel that we have the most fun in our journey with couples, it might be the engagement session. We include an engagement session with every wedding collection we offer. We do that on purpose. And it’s not just because everyone wants to have one, although that is also true. The main reason we structure our collections to include the engagement session boils down to one thing: relationships. In fact, if you asked us to choose one word that describes what we do, it would be relationships. Not images. Not emotions. Not even memories. Relationships.

Everything we do every day is based on building relationships with our couples. Are they going to get beautiful images to put in their albums and hang in their homes along the way? OF COURSE! But we feel that if all we do is deliver a gallery of digital images, we are providing an incomplete service and, quite frankly, missing out on a huge part of what makes our jobs so great. Our relationships with our couples keep us going. They keep us motivated. Because we know that 20 years from now when they are looking back through their wedding album, how they remember that day is very much on our shoulders. How they look in those photos and how they see their day happening in those images is how they will remember their wedding day.

So with that responsibility in mind, why are engagement sessions SO important? Because that’s when we build a relationship with our couples that will provide a level of trust and comfort that cannot be replaced on the wedding day. It’s that simple. You would be amazed what a difference it makes to have a relationship with the bride and groom before we show up at their wedding! They feel more comfortable, more relaxed. They trust us. That’s HUGE! And the engagement session is where that begins. We have a lot of fun! We see their real personality start to come out. We laugh at Ryan’s dumb jokes that he has told 100 times. We laugh at Alyssa trying to communicate her amazing posing ideas to them for the first time. And that’s why, if we had to tell you a time where have the most fun in our time with these wonderful couples, it might just be the engagement session.

2014 was a wonderful year for us! It was our first year of both of us doing wedding photography FULL TIME (wow, we still can’t believe it)! And this year was made so so sweet by these amazing couples. Enjoy some of our favorite engagement images of 2014. And for our #RAcouples, thank you.
