We’ve never seen Emily without the biggest smile on her face. And no smile was bigger than when she married Ross this past Saturday! Ross & Emily kept saying how this was just the greatest day of their lives. That seems like it should be normal right? Well it is, but Ross & Emily made a point to let everyone know how happy they were that everyone was there for them. That’s the kind of people they are! They can celebrate their wedding day while still celebrating everyone else around them at the same time!
We knew when we met them, they were an amazing couple. And when we got together with them at their engagement session, we just fell in love with them even more! How much do we love them? A lot!
*Here comes a side story that will probably seem unrelated but will eventually be revealed to be connected all along*
Much of what wedding photographers do – really much of what all vendors do – on a wedding day is behind the scenes. Even sometimes when we do things right in front of our couples, they don’t remember because they are in the moment as they should be! So, you won’t be able to tell from the images below, but it rained on Ross & Emily’s wedding day. Ok maybe rained isn’t the right word. How about “monsooned!” For about an hour, it rained very heavily. We could’ve just stayed inside and waited it out. But instead, we were running back and forth to the car (mostly Ryan, poor Ryan) getting things set up for later and preparing for what we would do when the rained finally stopped. We were soaked. Ryan has a hole in his shoes because he refuses to buy new shoes right now. So his socks were soaked. THEN the rain stopped. In order to keep everyone from getting wet from the dripping trees, we kept Ross, Emily and the wedding party on the porch for photos. But there wasn’t enough room to get the photos we needed because we would have to go down a bunch of stairs and shoot up at everyone. No one wants that! #doublechins So Ryan hopped into action and, with the help of the incredible planner, found a ladder. He then proceeded to carry it outside, set it up and hold it while Alyssa climbed it to get the perfect angle!
Here’s where we connect it all. Could we have compromised or figured out another way to get the images we needed? Yes. There are always a bunch of ways to get the job done. But in this case, there was only one right way. We don’t say that to build ourselves up. We tell that little bit of behind the scenes to say that Ross & Emily are the kind of people who inspire others around them to love them. We were going to do whatever it took to get the perfect photos for them, no matter how soaking wet and tired we were. And that’s a testament to Ross & Emily. They are incredibly sweet. They love others well. And they were made for each other.
Ross, Emily, we hope you sit down together and relive this incredible day together. There is so much more we can’t wait to show you!
