Their very first photo together was taken when they were 14 years old. And even though there was some interest there, Cate thought they were too young. And didn’t say yes to Brooks until the fall of their sophomore year of high school. As they grew up, they grew closer. Their relationship, stronger. They’ve weathered loss in their young love. They’ve worked through long distance. And now they get to experience the greatest adventure and blessing life offers – marriage.
It’s no secret we love these two. We spent the longest time chatting over zoom that very first meeting, and instantly knew they were our people. Brooks & cate emailed us to officially book their day and said, “so, it turns out, you’re actually neighbors with Brooks’ parents…”! Ha! Believe it or not, we live two houses down from this sweet family!
We started the weekend at the rehearsal dinner where Cate’s siblings did the most epic mashup of greatest hits aimed at Brooks. Then we listened as Cate’s dad shared how these two families actually met. And you know what? Only God could orchestrate that. The O’Brien family happened to be driving through this neighborhood looking at homes. The Ambrose family was outside that afternoon, playing wiffle ball. The car slowed down in front of the Ambrose house, and the family went out to chat. And now, decades later, these two families are the best of friends, and family forever.
Saturday turned out to be the most perfect day. From the bridesmaids’ singalong to the band warming up in the ballroom below while they finished getting ready, to the emotional first looks and sweet moments with family, this was one joyful, heartfelt celebration of not only young love, but a legacy of love in the example set forth by Brooks and Cate’s parents and grandparents.
Some of our favorite things? The touches of Charleston woven throughout their day. From the Brackish bowtie to the sweetgrass basket the flower girl carried, Brooks & Cate’s life in Charleston was well represented. Not to mention the custom photo wall out on the patio for their guests to enjoy during cocktail hour!
We could go on and on about their day, but for now we’re just going to show you. Brooks & Cate, our hearts are full. We love you and your families dearly, and cannot wait to see what journey lies ahead for you two. Enjoy reliving your day through these photos!
