3 Reasons You Should Hire A Wedding Planner Today

Wedding budgets are tight. We know that. We have been there. Prioritizing your budget is one of the most important things you can do when you are planning! You may list things like venue, photographer (hopefully!), caterer, etc. near the top of your list of priorities. But there’s one item that, in our opinion, needs to be a little higher on some brides’ lists: A planner or coordinator.

Some brides might be a little confused about the difference between a wedding planner and a wedding coordinator. Most wedding coordinators offer wedding planning services. And most wedding planners offer coordination services. But the important distinction is that wedding coordination is a little bit less involved than wedding planning. Wedding planners will help you with everything from design conception, to decorating ideas, to the final execution of everything. Thus, “planning.” Coordination is only slightly less involved and is likely to be geared more towards helping things go according to plan on your actual wedding day. Yes, “coordinating.”

We think both can absolutely take your wedding to the next level! We are so grateful for the planners and coordinators we work with on a regular basis. So today, in honor of them and in an attempt to help you newly engaged brides out there (woohoo!!!), we want to give you our top 3 reasons to hire a wedding planner/coordinator! This is by no means an exhaustive list. Having a planner can help brides in countless ways. But here are our 3 biggest reasons to hire one right now!

1. They Take Your Ideas To The Next Level

We live in a wedding world today that is dominated by Pinterest. It is the best of times. It is the worst of times. We know our dear planners and coordinators face a lot of Pinterest boards when they are helping brides plan weddings. (slight rabbit trail: a little Pinterest goes a long way. If you have one or two ideas form Pinterest that’s one thing. But don’t overload your planner or photographer with a Pinterest board of ideas that you want. Hire the right people and trust them to do their job for you! Ok rabbit trail over.) What you see on Pinterest or other bridal inspiration sites can often be GREAT ideas! We don’t deny that! However, one photo idea you found of a decorated reception and the actual execution of that idea at your venue are two totally different things!

An experienced planner knows exactly how to take your dreams and execute them to perfection. They can take your ideas and run with them. They can collect your thoughts and create something that will blow you away! An experienced planner is worth the investment!

2. They Take Stress Off Of You

Oh guys. Our beautiful brides. If there was a list of the top 5 words you hear associated with weddings, we guarantee this one would be near the top: STRESS! A lot of weddings are indeed stressful. But yours doesn’t have to be that way. We will say that again in case you read by that too quickly. Your wedding day doesn’t have to be stressful. What?! Tell me more, you say!

Imagine you could take 80% of your wedding stress that you are feeling and place that stress on another person to handle for you. Or even 70% or even 50% right?! You would totally go for that! Well, that’s what a good planner or coordinator can do. Actually that’s what a good team of vendors will do for you! Your planner, photographers, minister, DJ, caterer, florist. That’s what we are all there for! We want to take the stress off of you.

Planners and coordinators will think of things you would never think of doing. One of the most common mistakes is forgetting to put out a knife to cut the cake. But planners think of those types of things for you! There are 85,000 things happening in the wedding planning process and during a wedding day. We counted them. Wouldn’t it be nice to let someone else handle about 84,999 of those? That way all you have to worry about is enjoying your once-in-a-lifetime day!

3. They Help Your Day Run Smoothly

The differences between a wedding day that runs smoothly and a wedding day that feel disjointed and bumpy are very, very small. The problem is that since this is your first time planning a wedding, you don’t know what those differences are! Experienced planners and coordinators know the little things that can keep your wedding day running smoothly.

Starting the ceremony on time means everyone needs to be seated. The family needs to know where to go for pictures after the ceremony. The DJ needs to know when to do the bouquet toss.

There are so many little things! We do a lot of coordinating on a wedding day as well. We are with the bride and groom almost non-stop. So we can avoid a lot of those little bumps in the road. But when you have someone specifically devoted to making your day go smoothly, it shows!

Like we said at the beginning, wedding budgets are tight. There’s no doubt about it! But this is a once-in-a-lifetime day. Let someone who has been there many, many times help make your day one to remember! It’s worth the investment!
