5 Things You Didn’t Know About Us

Today we are going to given a small look behind the scenes of a wedding day with Ryan & Alyssa! You are going to glimpse some never-before-seen images! Hide your kids! Hide your wife!

Ok we just wanted to make this sound exciting. But really, we think it’s kinda cool! There are a lot of things you expect us to be doing on your wedding day. Taking pictures? Posing you? Taking more pictures? Well yeah! Definitely! But there are a lot of things we do behind the scenes that most people never even notice. So today we are going to give you a look through the window. We want to share with you a few things we do BTS (that’s behind the scenes guys for the cool kids…and we’re cool like that)! So here we go! The first ever installment of “5 Things You Didn’t Know About Us On Your Wedding Day!”

1. Just Call Ryan “The DressMaster”

By virtue of the fact that we work in the wedding industry, Ryan is called upon to know a lot about things most guys never even think about: A-line dresses, peonies, Kate Spade shoes. Other guys in the wedding industry, you get it, right? It’s important to know about these things!

On the wedding day, Ryan, secure in his manhood, takes on the crucial job of caring for the wedding dress. Partly because Ryan is a good bit taller than Alyssa (he can reach up and hang the dress in more places) and partly because he does an amazing job at keeping expensive dresses safe (he is an extremely clean and careful guy), you might see him gently carrying the dress through doors or navigating obstacles with great vigilance.

If you ask him, he will deny that he enjoys this particular job, but deep inside we know he takes it seriously!!!

2. What’s Your Name Again?

That’s a question you won’t hear many times from Alyssa on your wedding day. She has an amazing knack (more like she makes it a huge focus) for remembering the names of the wedding party. Bridal parties of 5? No problem! Alyssa will probably have those names down in the first 10 minutes we are there! Now, you have 10 bridesmaids or groomsmen? You are really putting her to the test! But we bet you dollars to donuts, she will find a way to remember every one of them by the end of the day! She’s amazing like that!

Knowing names just keeps everything more fun and more personal! When we are posing bridal party photos, no one wants to called “hey you” or “the tall one back there.” Boooo! No fun! That’s why Alyssa’s super skill is invaluable! She’s amazing!

3. Keeping Time

Another one of Ryan’s huge responsibilities on wedding days is to be the timekeeper. Don’t underestimate the importance of this job! We have heard way too many horror stories of photos that were missed because the photographer ran out of time or just plain lost track of time! Yikes! We would never want that to happen. So you will often see Ryan taking 15 seconds off to the side and looking at papers. Chances are, that’s the timeline. He’s making sure that things are moving on schedule for you!!!

There are a few other papers in that stack as well that are also important! One of them is the family photo list. Holy cow, guys. We just started doing this recently and we will never go back! Ryan goes into every wedding with a list of family photos filled out by the couple. Family photo time is often one of the most stressful times on a wedding day, but Ryan makes it so much easier! He calls out names for each photo and crosses them off as we go along to make sure we get every photo! So smooth!

So if you see Ryan standing off to the side looking at a number of papers, just know the wheels in his head are turning to make your day go smoothly!!!

4. Detail-Oriented

We believe that details tell the story of your wedding day. Of course, people are so important! You wouldn’t be who you are without the people who attend your wedding. Images of people are a given. But we want to go a step beyond that and capture the little things that truly tell the story of who you are. Alyssa is such a detail person and she absolutely loves capturing those little facets!

We always schedule time to capture your amazing dress, your beautiful shoes, those rings that mean so much to your story, and everything else! Most of that happens behind the scenes while you are getting your hair and makeup done! Alyssa has a special way of making everything look perfect! You might see her shooting table setups or food at the reception. You might catch her looking around for the things no one else would notice but her.

That’s who Alyssa is. She loves those details and you can rest assured she will capture them for you!

5. Our Secret Dancing Shoes

We are about to let you in on one of our best-kept secrets. Here it is: If you ask us to, we will dance with you at your wedding. Slow dance? Alyssa’s specialty. When it’s time to grab someone you love, we will jump right in there with you guys…if you ask us! Cupid Shuffle? Shout? Ryan’s in. Sometimes you may not even have to ask Ryan. If he’s not dancing for real, he’s probably at least dancing in his head. You might even see him singing along as he is shooting.

So the secret is out! All you have to do is ask! We love to join!!!
