We love engagement sessions. It may be the most fun part of what we do. That’s not an exaggeration!!! Here are the top 2 reasons why we love our engagement sessions so much:
1. There is no pressure. We have no time constraints like we have on a wedding day! That means we can take our time creating some beautiful images and (our favorite!) spend some time getting to know our brides and grooms as real, amazing people! So fun!!!
2. Slightly related to #1, we admit. We get to find out who our brides and grooms really are! We have done 150+ engagement sessions. Each one is different because we get to work with a different couple every time. And we learn very quickly what they are like. We actually learn a lot about their relationship in the first 5 minutes! It’s so fun to see how they interact with each other under the “pressure” of being photographed. It sounds strange, but we feel like many times we can see deeper into their relationship in a 90 minute session than a marriage counselor can see in 9 hours (our future calling maybe?)! Seeing love in the eyes of our brides and grooms as they look at each other more than they probably ever have before (haha!) is a pure joy for us!
As we move through the session and have them look at each other for extended periods of time, we often joke, “You guys are going to reach your quota of looking at each other tonight!”. We made that same joke to Caleb & Kimberlee just like always. But Caleb made a comment we have never heard before and it told us volumes about their relationship. He simply said:
“I don’t think that could ever be possible.”
Chills.
Sure, it was somewhat in fun. But there was an air of truth in his voice. The kind of truth that tells us that, in a country with a sad 50% divorce rate, there is hope if we have more couples like Caleb & Kimberlee. People who understand the value of love and marriage. People who see beyond the excitement of being together right now and see being together forever. That’s who these two are. And we couldn’t be more honored or excited to capture a love like theirs!
Caleb & Kimberlee, you have something special and deep! We love you two and we can’t wait to celebrate your wedding day up in Pennsylvania next June! It has been a pleasure for us to capture your love! Enjoy this little preview of your beautiful session!!!
