Intimate Wedding Ceremony at Childhood Home Mckinley & Ashley | Greenville, SC

In a conversation with a planner last week, I mentioned how we were loving the recent “trends” of including big personal touches in weddings. They’ve always been there, mostly in little ways, that tell the story of the couple, or give a nod to their history together. But Mckinley & Ashley took it one step further; their entire wedding weekend, rooted in legacy, spoke of their deep family ties and personal moments. From their rehearsal dinner, which was on the land that Ashley’s grandparents farmed and built their home, to hosting the family-only ceremony on the front steps of Ashley’s childhood home, every little moment and decision was intentional. I can guarantee Ashley’s parents were thinking back to all of those times these same kids getting ready for the wedding were coming over for dinner, playing in the yard, getting ready for prom, and celebrating graduations,  filling their with laughter, happy chaos, and joyful sounds, past and present. Every person there felt like family. Saying their vows, on the steps of her childhood home, was the intimate wedding ceremony of Ashley’s dreams. (And if we’re honest, ours too!)

Following the ceremony, the entire group headed down the road to Green Valley Country Club to continue the celebration. They were joined by friends from all over, and it truly was a fabulous celebration on the newly completed lawn and renovated space at the Club. Mckinley & Ashley danced the night away, then exited to a perfectly timed fireworks display!
