We walked into Hotel Domestique Saturday morning, and immediately, the lyrics to “On an Evening in Roma” by Dean Martin popped into our heads. Because we truly felt as if we had just walked into a villa in the countryside of Italy!
Lauren & Carl drew from the culture and history of Italy in planning for their wedding weekend. Their reception venue, Hotel Domestique, looks as if someone plucked it from the hills of Tuscany and nestled it near the mountains in Travelers Rest, SC. The mountain views, paired with the the Old World charm and character, made for the perfect destination for their weekend celebration. The courtyard, fit for any Italian villa, hosted a fabulous family style dinner party for Carl, Lauren, and their friends and family. Guests found their seats thanks to the Italian city place cards nestled in amongst the abundant greenery that adorned the table! After enjoying a family style meal of fresh bread, Caesar salad wedges, pomodoro cavatelli pasta and Alfredo bowtie pasta, and parmesan crusted chicken (yuuuummmm!), guests treated themselves to gelato by a local Italian Gelateria from downtown Greenville!

The rest of their day was just as magical, and no detail was overlooked! From Lauren’s custom Mrs. Box (a gift from Carl), to the hand-torn paper suites and loose florals, Carl & Lauren’s wedding dripped with refinery, grace, and (most importantly) was full of love. Carl & Lauren have become our good friends. In fact, after the ceremony Ryan & Carl had a conversation that involved Carl telling us how much they appreciated what a great job we were doing. Ryan jokingly commented that with the speed of their wedding day, they wouldn’t even remember we were there! But Carl sweetly said, “We definitely will. It’s been like having friends with us all day.” And as typical as we have found it for Carl to be such a kind person on a normal basis, it still made us feel as good as hot chocolate in December!
We couldn’t be happier to have been a part of their journey together. We had the privilege of photographing their rehearsal dinner on Friday night. And we got even more confirmation that 1) both Carl & Lauren come from fantastic, loving, faith-filled families and 2) they are two of the kindest-hearted people we’ve ever known! And as gorgeous as their day truly was (you’ll see below!), we think their hearts are even more beautiful. And in the end, that’s what truly matters.
Carl, Lauren, we love you guys and your families! Enjoy this preview of your wedding day! We hope you love it as much as we do!
