Ivan & McKenzie | Cliffs at Glassy Chapel Wedding

Sometimes we don’t have the best words.

Sometimes our thoughts about our couples’ love for each other is not enough. We happen to know that Ivan & McKenzie’s wedding at the Cliffs at Glassy Chapel is one of those times. How do we know? Well, because McKenzie’s father delivered one of the all-time great Father-of-the-bride-speeches we have ever heard! So we will give him the floor on this one. We think he said everything you would ever need to know about these two kids, their love, and the families that brought them to this day. By the end of this speech, there wasn’t a dry eye in the place!!! Thankfully, we were able to hide our tears behind the camera!

So without further ado, Patrick, the floor is yours!

“We want to welcome everybody here tonight. Thank you for coming and showing your love and support for McKenzie & Ivan. We really appreciate it…yeah…wow…I thought I had this. You know it’s funny, as the father of the bride I knew this day would come…But I didn’t realize it would come so fast.

It seems like only yesterday…this little bundle of joy with her bright red hair, her curls, her sweet, innocent smile would come and crawl up in the recliner with me. And we would watch what’s probably now my favorite movie for hours and hours: Jungle Book! There were times when she didn’t sleep all night. She would wake up in the middle of the night, she would come in the bedroom. Sometimes she would crawl under the bed and go to sleep and we would find her the next morning. Many times she would wake us up. And many of those times I would take her up and we would go into the den and I’d put jungle book in. We would lay there and cuddle until we both went to sleep. That’s still my favorite movie…because it reminds me every time I watch it of those precious times…that went by way. too. fast.

Now I stand here and I look at her. What a beautiful young woman that I’m so very proud of. McKenzie, the only beauty that matches the beauty you have on the outside is the beauty you have on the inside. No matter how old you get, no matter how successful you become, you’ll always be my precious little girl.  And I love you with everything that I am…and I always will……And then came the boy!

He stepped in and stole not only my daughter’s heart but the hearts of my whole family. He had that smile that he’s showing right now. Big and bright and as warm and inviting as anyone I’ve ever seen in my life. He carries himself like a young man. No longer the young boy he was when we first met him. In a very short time, he became like a son to Lori and me. And he was a big brother to Maegan. And our family has been beyond blessed to have him in our life. And I have no doubt that this young man will take care of my daughter and provide for her and give her the things she needs and says she wants. And that is a super comfort for me.

Ivan, I’m proud of you and I love you. I love you like you were mine. As we all stand here and look at you two, it’s my prayer for you and McKenzie that you have unconditional love for each other forevermore and you have true joy in your heart. I wish you happiness, love, health and all the love you can stand. We love you and best wishes.”

There’s not much more we can say! Hold on, we might be drying our tears…Hey! We are suckers for a good speech! To say we have enjoyed our time with Ivan & McKenzie would be an understatement. Ivan. McKenzie. We couldn’t ask for a better couple. You are two of the sweetest, kindest people we have had the privilege to know. McKenzie, you are a goddess in that white dress! And Ivan, you could be a GQ model in that tux! But more importantly, you are two of the most beautiful people on the inside. Thank you for letting us be a part of your day. We are better people for it. And we hope you absolutely fall in love all over again looking at these images from your special day!
