R&A’s Top 10 Netflix Shows Of 2015

Oh this is such a fun post today! Guys, we readily admit that we are Netflix junkies. There is something about sitting on the couch together with a bowl of popcorn that really gives us a chance to unwind from a hard day of editing or shooting. You guys know the feeling!

However, since we have been married, we always wanted to make sure we didn’t spend too much time just sitting in front of the TV. There are so many other amazing things to do in life! Because of that, we have never had cable. We think if we did, we would probably just sit there all day and never get up. That’s no good!

Enter, stage left, two of our favorite inventions: Redbox and Netflix! For us, in this season of life, there is no better (or cheaper!) way to spend a little bit of time watching TV together.

When it comes to Netflix, we actually love to find shows to watch rather than movies. We think it’s because they last longer and they are broken up into smaller sections so we can watch one or two episodes of a show and then go do something else for a while! (Except in the rare…ahem…case where we accidentally binge watch something because it’s just too amazing! There might be a few of those in this list haha)

So without further ado, here is our top 10 favorites list of Netflix shows we have watched (or are watching still) in 2015 awards post! Let us know if your favorites are some of these same shows! *note: some of these are no longer on Netflix, but they were at some point this year!

Sherlock

Oh guys. If you haven’t seen Sherlock, you need to clear your schedule tonight and watch it. IF you don’t have Netflix, you have to find a way to watch this show. There are very few episodes, but each episode is fairly long. Episodes are almost like short movies in fact!

We both love mysteries and we both loved Sherlock Holmes stories so we were a little nervous that this show was going to be a let down. We could not have been more wrong! This adaptation is amazing! The characters are spot-on and the stories are soooo good you guys!

Make time for this show if you can! It’s at the top of our list! We are awarding this one “The Must-See Show.”

Cake Boss

Cake Boss is a show that we watched earlier this year and it always brought a smile to our faces. Buddy Valastro is an Italian baker who designs and delivers AMAZING cakes with his team! Most of the team members are his Italian family so things get pretty interesting to say the least!

We have to admit we love cooking shows in general. And Cake Boss is right up there at the top of all of our favorite cooking shows no doubt!

We are deeming Cake Boss “Top Cooking Show 2015.” An honor well-deserved.

Chuck

Chuck is another show we watched earlier in 2015. It’s a mix of comedy, action and just plain spy fun! Chuck, a nerdy computer tech, accidentally uploads a piece of software to his mind that gives him super-secret knowledge and skills. It’s up to his handlers to keep him from doing anything to give up that knowledge into the wrong hands!

To be honest, when we first started this show, we were hooked! It was so fun and we both loved it! But after a few seasons it started to feel the same. But we totally recommend the first 3 or 4 seasons! It’s a blast!

Chuck is getting the “Quit While You’re Ahead Award.” Surely they were hoping for more, but they are glad to make this list.

Psych

Let’s file this one under the folder named “Ryan’s Favorite Shows Of All Time.” Ryan’s sense of humor lines up with this show in a big, BIG way. Whaaaaaat?!

Psych follows the crime-solving adventures of Shawn and Gus who accidentally start up a fake psychic detective agency. They solve crimes under the guise that Shawn is psychic when in fact he is just a really good detective, even if he’s a little immature in the process.

If you ask Ryan, Psych is one of the funniest shows of all time. If you watch the show and then hang around Ryan for a while, you may even here a few lines from the show here and there! Psych once again gets our “Here For The Long Haul Award.” Third year in a row for them. Impressive showing.

Storage Wars

Yuuuuuup! Storage Wars made the list and…we…really don’t know why. We can’t even give a good reason why we love this show. We just do!

Storage Wars follows 5 characters involved in the buying of old, abandoned storage lockers. Sometimes they find amazing treasures and sometimes…they don’t. Maybe that’s the intrigue we find in watching Storage Wars!

Either way, it definitely made our list for this year. If you’ve never seen it, check it out! Storage Wars gets the “It’s Really Good, We Just Don’t Know Why Award.”

Lost

Lost has been around for a while. Ryan remembers watching it with his family 7 or 8 years ago when it was just coming out. But Alyssa had never seen it. So we decided to take the stressful, edge-of-our-seats, cliff-hanging plunge into the world of Lost. We emerged unscathed and full of more questions than answers.

Lost tells the story of a crashed plane’s passengers and their struggle to survive on an island that has more secrets than the “Losties” can discover in 6 crazy seasons.

Lost gets the “Never-Ending Cliff-Hanger Award,” beating out Sherlock by a small margin! We definitely recommend!

Turn: Washington’s Spies

Turn: Washington’s Spies…we are a little bit proud to have this one on here because we feel like we kind of discovered it. We didn’t. At all. But we feel like we did! We have met very few people that have even heard of this show but it is one of our favorites! We are waiting for the next season to come onto Netflix (fingers crossed!) soon!

Turn takes place during the Revolutionary War and revolves around Colonial citizens who attempt to help defeat the British by delivering precious secrets to the Colonial officers. It’s another edge-of-your-seat show! There seems to be a theme here.

Turn: Washington’s Spies pulled out the “Best New R&A Find Of The Year Award.” That award was believed to be going to Chuck or Arrow by most analysts so this is a big win for Turn.

Say Yes To The Dress

There is no shame here. Ryan watches this too. We are in the wedding business so this show relates to us! Ryan knows a lot about peonies, diamonds, and cuts of wedding dresses already and this show just added to that knowledge. It might come in handy! Who knows! He carries a lot of wedding dresses around so it can’t hurt to know how much these things are!

This may not be our all-time favorite show in the list, but because if its practical application to our lives, it makes the cut!

Say Yes To The Dress gets the “Cinderella Story Award” for being the show that made the final dance but just barely. They will be pleased with that win this year for sure.

Arrow

Arrow was a narrow miss to win the “Best New R&A Find Of The Year Award” this year. We actually found this show by accident. That’s what happens when you run out of shows to watch and you are just clicking around trying to find something! Hey, like you’ve never done that!

Arrow is a live-action version of the comic book character Green Arrow. This was a show we were skeptical about at first, but turned out to be well-acted and well-told!

Arrow gets the “Top Action Show Of The Year Award.” Well-done. They will be very pleased with that outcome.

Chopped

Yes, again with the food shows. However, this is only the second food show to make our top ten list this year along with Cake Boss. Congratulations are in order for that accomplishment alone! We can tell you several other food shows didn’t quite make the cut!

Chopped is a high-intensity cooking show where cooks are “chopped” round by round until only one is left standing at the end. The winning cook!

Chopped has earned the “Best Food-Action Hybrid Award,” one of the most highly sought-after awards in the food industry.

Honorable Mention: White Collar

Here’s a show that didn’t quite make the list this year but still deserves a fair amount of recognition. This has been a staple among our favorite shows for several years now and White Collar just barely missed the cut off line this year by a narrow margin. Sad to see after a long run of making the list year after year.

If you haven’t seen White Collar, do yourself a favor and go watch it! It has become a classic!

White Collar is getting this year’s “So Close And Yet So Far Award.” It was a good run Matt Bomer.

Well guys that wraps our top 10 Netflix TV shows for this year of 2015! We hope you can relate to a few of those and we hope there are a few you haven’t seen yet! Set up a date night or a night with your friends and have a great time! Just don’t get sucked into the binge-vortex of Netflix. No!!! Come back to the light!!!

Happy watching.
