WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHERS IN LOVE

GREENVILLE, SC & BEYOND

Behind The Scenes With Ryan & Alyssa 2021

There’s been a huge push for the “Instagram vs Real Life” versions what what we as a society put online. And we get it! Everyone loves seeing the beautiful, seemingly perfect moments. But we all CRAVE authenticity. And this behind the scenes blog post does just that – gives you an authentic look into what we’re like on the job, doing our thing, and what it takes to be a wedding photographer (and married to one!). Since we’re kicking off our wedding season with 2 weddings this weekend, we thought it would be the perfect time to show off our 2021 behind the scenes moments!

A good number of these are embarrassing, but you know, it is what it is. We’re here to entertain!

If you want to see our behind the scenes posts from 2015 or 2016, 2017, 2018, or 2020, here you go!

Part 1: Bossy Alyssa and Veil Tamer Ryan

Ryan is seemingly always catching Alyssa in the “bossy” moments of our jobs – directing family group photos and wedding party portraits! Most of the time, people smile back at her, despite the Type A, Enneagram 8 personality standing right in front of them, telling them what to do in the most chaotic parts of the day!

Ryan’s unofficial title includes “tamer of the veil”. If you don’t believe me, look at these photos of the master at work! There’s no one else like him!

Can we take a moment to appreciate his form and dedication to his work in this photo? What grace! What athleticism!

In case there was any doubt, some more details of Ryan doing what he does best. That veil and those trains don’t look the way they do in your final images without Ryan!

Occasionally Alyssa will step in and adjust a few trains of her own, but there’s no substitute for Ryan!

PART 2: Where’s R & A?

Whatever it takes to get the shot. Whether we’re hiding in bushes, peeping out in a sea of guests, or contorting our bodies, we’ll do what is needed for that perfect moment. Exhibits below:

PART 3: The Ones Featuring Ryan

Ryan tries to make it into the gallery at least once every wedding and session. We must applaud his efforts!

And then he entertains the idea of a modeling career. I can see it!

PART 4: The Ones With The Captions

Sometimes things are just better with a play by play of each image. You’re welcome.

Sarah Kennedy is FOR SURE thinking that Alyssa’s going to run off with her flowers. The thought definitely crossed her mind. She’s not wrong!

Ryan: “That snake better not pop out while I’m getting ready to run through here.”

“They smiled at my joke! I crack myself up.”

“I’m confused. Are we not doing ‘head shoulders knees and toes’ right now?”

“Alyssa, stand right here.” (1000% accurate)

How everything feels in the middle of wedding season. Ha!

“Seriously what is happening right now. This was not on my timeline.”

It’s not easy teaching guys how to put their hand in their pockets.

Alyssa to Kalyn: “Were you going to go run after the groom or should I?”

Speaking of grooms… “I can’t believe we lost the groom!”

It’s my surprise proposal face. I practice it every single proposal.

This one might get you in the feels. Ryan was getting Erin in place for a first look with her Dad. I was 7 months pregnant with our baby girl at this wedding. I could just feel Ryan putting himself in this exact moment 20+ years from now on Elli’s wedding day, and had to document it! <3

PART 5: Us Just Doing Our Thing, One Photo at a Time

Whether it’s making our couple’s day by bringing out their sweet dog for photos, moving flowers post ceremony for the shot, cheesin’ during the reception test photos, managing timelines, taking iPhone photos of a random group that stopped us on the wedding day (true story!), or simply taking photos, what we get to do is a gift. And you can’t convince us otherwise!

We hope you enjoyed this as much as we did looking back on 2021! Here’s to another fun and busy year doing what we love!
