Spring Black Tie Plantation Wedding Ryan & Katie | Columbia, SC

Last March, we got a phone call from Ryan, outlining his plan to ask the love of his life, Katie, to marry him at the venue that they had chosen to have their wedding! These two lawyers went to the same school, but ended up meeting in their study abroad program in London. And this summer they’ll be going back to the very same place where they had their first date! We arrived at Wavering Place on a Monday morning in April, and captured the emotional moment where Katie said yes!

We’ve had the absolutely honor of being there for their proposal, their engagement party, their engagement session and then their rehearsal dinner and welcome party all before their wedding day. When we say these are two of the most special and loved people we know, we mean it! On their wedding day, they chose to honor the memory of their grandparents marriages; from Katie’s engagement ring and wedding band sourced from both grandmothers’ diamonds, to Ryan carrying around his grandfather’s pocket watch and engraved lighter from their wedding 60 years ago. Katie’s mom even had her own wedding dress made into a bridal robe for Katie to wear on her wedding day! All of those heirloom pieces signify the legacy of love and commitment these two have as they start their own marriage. And we couldn’t have imagined celebrating this day with anyone else!
